Welcome to Hughenden Public School!

Beginning as a teacher at HPS in September 2009, this is my 16th year at Hughenden Public School.  After a stint as principal of HPS, I moved back into the classroom full-time last year .  I am really excited to teach Physical Education 5, 6, 8/9 and 10/20/30, Social Studies 10 and 30 and Senior Foods for the 2024-25 school year.  

My goal and our staff's collective goal at HPS is to develop and maintain positive and caring relationships where students, staff and parents work together to create a successful learning environment.  We also promote our school as a safe area for students to express themselves.  We understand that every student expresses themselves through different skill sets, which is why we would like to encourage creativity through many avenues. 

Personally, I live in the MCHA area with my wife Sarah and three step-sons.  I am very passionate about sport and athletics and believe that sport is a great opportunity to bolster relationships and build resilience.  I especially love  cheering for my favourite team, the Edmonton Oilers - the 2025 Stanley Cup Champions.  

In my "spare time," I enjoy coaching a variety of extra-curricular sports at HPS, including golf, volleyball, basketball, badminton and track and field.  For the last three years, I have also coached club volleyball with the Rustlers Volleyball Club out of Lloydminster.  Additionally  I referee hockey, including Junior B and Senior hockey.  Additionally, I am a level 2 (provincial) referee with Volleyball Canada.

I am extremely proud to be a teacher at HPS and enjoy spending time teaching students both curricular skills as well as life skills, both as a teacher and a coach.
